Fall Break

Last week, we decided to take a few days off from school. We have completed nine weeks of school, and we (mostly me) needed a few days off.  On Monday, we went to the beach.  It was so beautiful.  The kids had so much fun.  On Tuesday, we baked and met our friends at the parks.  On Wednesday morning, we went on the bee keeper field trip and then my sister came in town with three of her boys.  Thursday, we spent all day playing with the cousins.  We even went swimming.  Friday we went to co-op in the morning and then spent time with Jan and the cousins.  It was a fun and refreshing week.  I am thankful for the flexibility that we have with homeschooling.

Bee Keeper Field Trip

We are so blessed to have such a great homeschool community.  We get together weekly with several families from church that are homeschooling.  We all have kids the same age and we get together for weekly park days and field trips.

Last week, we went on a field trip to a local bee keeper. The kids learned about honey bees and go to see and sample vegetables from the garden. We also were able to bring home some of the fresh honey.

St. Augustine Field Trip

In September, we went on a field trip with our co-op to the Old Florida Museum in St. Augustine. We have been studying colonial times.  The kids were able to do colonial outdoor and classroom activities.  We went down early and rode the sight seeing train. We had a really fun day.

Homeschool Highlights

We have completed nine weeks of homeschool.  We are really enjoying our time at home.  We have good days and challenging days, but I am so thankful for this time I have with my kids.

I LOVE our curriculum.  Every week we have a theme and the curriculum integrates all the subjects, including Bible and Scripture memory.  We have gotten to do lots of fun activities.

We also joined a co-op this year.  We meet on Fridays.  The kids have science, history, and chapel at co-op.  This year we are studying early American history and Astronomy. Once a month we go on a field trip with the group. Caleb and Elisabeth love co-op and all their new friends.

Rebekah Kate's First Bite

We took this video in August and are just now posting it. She has grown so much in two months! I guess it is better late than never!
