On Guard!

on guard
Today, Caleb handed me the wilted stem of a weed and said "Here's your stick daddy!" He promptly ran to the other side of the yard. "What does he want me to do with this?", I thought to myself. A split second later it became abundantly clear. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him running at me with a big smile and a bigger stick yelling... "On guard!"

Happy Birthday, Caleb and Elisabeth!

Dear Caleb and Elisabeth,
It does not seem possible that you are already turning three years old. The time is going by so fast and we are loving every minute of being your Daddy and Mama!
It has been a big year for our family. We have moved twice since your last birthday. It was a crazy but good year and you both handled all of the change beautifully. You are so proud of our new house and we are all thankful that the moving days are behind us.
We are so proud of all that you have learned this year. You know most of your letters and sounds, opposites, nursery rhymes, days of the week, and countless songs. You carry on full conversations and very creative imaginations.
We are the most proud of how much you love Jesus and His Word. This year you have memorized Luke 2, Psalms 100, the Ten Commandments, and our weekly Bible verses. We pray that you will always have a love for Jesus and that you will follow Him all the days of your lives. He loves you so much and it thrills our hearts to see your love for Him grow each day.
We are so thankful for the sweet friendship that the two of you have. You play so well together. We love hearing you talk and sing to each other every night and morning when you are in your bed.
Caleb and Elisabeth, you are the light of our lives. You make life so unpredictable, fun, and exciting. We can't wait to see all that God has in store for your lives.
We love you,
Daddy and Mama

Dear Caleb,
You are our precious little boy. We love you so much. It has been such a joy to watch you grow this year.
You love all things rough and tough. You love sticks, guns, tackling, climbing, and you rarely cry when you get hurt. With all of that, you still have such a tender heart. You are the first on the scene if anyone gets hurt. You often say to Daddy as he is leaving for work, "I am going to protect Mama today". You are the oldest by only a minute but you take your job as the oldest child very seriously.
You love books, puzzles, macaroni and cheese, your special blue blanket, playing rough with Daddy, snuggling with Mama, and laughing so hard you get the hiccups. Whenever we go somewhere you always ask Daddy to carry you on his shoulders. We are so proud of you and love you more that words.
Love,
Daddy and Mama

Dear Elisabeth,
You are our sweet baby girl. Your bring so much laughter and fun into our home and we absolutely adore you.
You love all things girly. You love dolls, jewelry, pink, animals, dresses, princesses, dancing, getting into Mama's make-up, and all things dramatic. Puppy and Puppa are still your constant companions. We rarely leave the house without one of them.
One of your favorite things to play is the Nutcracker. You dance around the room doing ballet and holding your Nutcracker. You always want Daddy to play Herr Drosselmeyer and of course he loves to play it with you.
You are still our little snuggle bug. You still love to be held, rocked, and carried around.
We are so thankful that God let us be your Mama and Daddy. We can't wait to see all that God will do it your life. We love you.
Love,
Daddy and Mama

Early Birthday

IMG_6592

The Floyd's came over Saturday night for an early birthday party for Caleb and Elisabeth. Todd's dad is having open heart surgery for a mitral valve repair Wednesday morning. We wanted to have a little party for the kids in case he is not up to partying next week. We had a blast. Unlike last year, the kids are fully aware of their upcoming birthday and can't wait for the presents!

Please pray for Todd's dad. He is a great man of God, who has a deep love for his family. Pray for the surgeon to have a steady hand and sharp mind. Also, pray for his recovery and that there won't be any complications.
