Last Drops of Summer

I know, I know. It's "Fall", but here around the Floyd house we plan on squeezing every last drop out of summer! Isn't it great to live in a state where you can go to the pumpkin patch on the way to the beach!

Homeschool Week 5

Homeschool week 5

This week we reinforced the letters, verses, and skills from the first 4 weeks. After every three letters we will have a review week to make sure Caleb and Elisabeth are really understanding and learning the letters and sounds. This week we reviewed the letters, sounds, verses, worked on numbers, and did lots of puzzles and crafts.

Sunday at the Beach

We went to the beach Sunday night. We kept go back and forth on whether or not we wanted to make the trek. We finally decided to go and boy am I glad we did. The kids we cracking us up. We think they were trying to fill the ocean with sand. Caleb and Elisabeth would grab two handfuls of sand and then ran as fast as their little legs would carry them to the ocean. Back and forth, for a good 10 to 15 minutes.

After they decided their efforts were in vain, they set out to make friends with Brooke (a little girl not to far from us). Let me tell you, our kids have no concept of personal space. Don't get me wrong, they were very sweet and were playing nicely with Brooke. They weren't even touching her, they were just standing side by side talking to her. Finally, little Brooke had to retreat into the arms of her chuckling grandfather. I guess we know what skill we will be working on during "P" week... "P for personal space".

Bible Verses

One of the greatest joys in homeschooling my children is teaching them God's word. It's amazing what they can absorb at such a young age. I think how Moses' mother prepared him for Pharaoh's palace in only a few short years. This time is so precious! I don't want to waste a moment.

Reckless Abandon

We have been enjoying the pool so much. It's been a lot of fun to watch the kids grow in their swimming ability. They will now launch themselves at us with reckless abandon, confident that mama and dada will not let them down. On the rare occasion that we do miss, their expression is priceless. Caleb will shoot up out of the water and scream at the top of his lungs "BREAK!!!" He will then swim over to the edge and take a breather before jumping back in the pool.

On another note, we've heard from our realtor and we could be in our new house before November!!!

Homeschool Letter Bb

Homeschool week 3
Verse of the week: Believe in the on Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Acts 16:31
Activities for the week:
Painting Bees
Bear Biscuits
B's Book
Gluing Beans on B
Building Binoculars

We also had a half Birthday (my babies were 2.5 on 9/10) and open house to display their work to the family. They were so proud of all the projects they have done!

We asked them what kind of cake they wanted for their half birthday. After much debate, they decided on Princess Leia and R2-D2. I have to put a disclaimer here. The kids have never seen a second of Star Wars. Grandma Rhonda bought Caleb a Star Wars t-shirt last year and Elisabeth has been in love with Princess Leia ever since. Now every time we go to the MOSH we have to go up to the 3rd floor and stare at Princess Leia and the rest of the Star Wars gang.

Childlike Faith

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

It is so sweet to teach Caleb and Elisabeth the truths of the Bible and see their little hearts respond. We were talking with our realtor the other day about how we think they have an innate understanding and desire to know Christ. Laura said she thinks it's because they remember being with Jesus before being sent to earth... That's a beautiful picture... I don't know that it is right, but an awesome thought none the less.

Here are a couple cute stories:
Elisabeth has gotten on this kick of pretending to be baby Jesus. The other night at dinner we we had this conversation
Todd:"Elisabeth, if you are baby Jesus, who is mama?"
Elisabeth: "Mary!"
Tiffany:"Who is Daddy?"
Elisabeth:"Joseph!"
Todd:"Well, if I'm Joseph and mama is Mary, who is Caleb?"
Elisabeth:"Uhhmm, sheep!"

Sunday, Caleb came into the room pulled open his shirt and said
"Mama, where Jesus, where heart?" Pointing to his chest I said "It's right here Caleb, you can't see it". Caleb looked down at his chest and said "Want to see it!"

Family Date Night

We took the kids to Zoe's Kitchen last night for our date and then went to the park. We had a blast.

I guess there is too much love for one sister to handle. Elisabeth does antagonize him. The other day we were pushing them in their jogging stroller. Caleb was minding his own business when out of no where this conversation ensued:

Elisabeth: "No like Bub's toes!"

Caleb: With a smirk on his face, he lifts his foot and sticks his toe in her ear. With the most sarcastic tone he could conjure, states "No, like Bub's toes?!?!"

Elisabeth: "AAARRRGGG!"

This Week Brought to You by the Letter Aa

week2

We had a great week. Gone are the runny noses and hacking coughs. Now we can get down to business. This week we had a lot of fun learning about the letter Aa. Here are a couple of things we did:
  • Verse of the week: All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. It is so sweet hearing Elisabeth say this verse. She just about has the whole thing down in just a week.
  • Apple stamps
  • Apple Jacks glued on the letter A- Caleb stuck his finger in the glue and then got this disgusting look on his face... "Mama, no like this!"

  • IMG_8217

  • A stamps and glue sticks
  • A word's coloring book
  • Apple juice popsicles
IMG_8273

  • Apple pie- my personal favorite. It was sooo good with Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream.
