Another Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

We took one more trip to the pumpkin patch this week.  Caleb has gotten really into scarecrows.  When we go for a walk, he points out all the scarecrows in our neighborhood so we knew he would love to go to the pumpkin patch again.  We had a fun time playing and enjoying the cool weather.

Sunday Afternoons

Every Sunday afternoon we go to a park near our house. The park does not have a playground, but it has a great nature trail down to the river. Every time we go there we discover something new. Caleb and Elisabeth have so much fun running, playing, and exploring at the park. Here are a few picture that we took today.

Princess Fat Lip

Poor Elisabeth busted her lip yesterday.  I had just finish giving the kids a snack and we were heading outside to play.  Elisabeth fell going out the door and hit her mouth on a chair.  She immediately started screaming, gushing blood, and her lips were swelling.  I called Todd on the phone, which thankfully he was walking in the door right then.  I thought for sure that we were going to be spending the evening in the emergency room.

Thankfully, in a few minutes the bleeding stopped and she had calmed down.  We were able to get a good look at it and realized that it was not as bad as we originally thought.  She is fine, but she is sporting a fat lip.

The ironic part of this is that I am the safety parent and Todd is the daredevil parent.  He is always flipping the kids, hanging them upside down, and letting them climb all over everything.  I am all about safety first.  How does our baby girl bust her lip?  Under my watch, just walking outside.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

We really try to teach good table manners to Caleb and Elisabeth. Yes, that is an ice cream sandwich on Elisabeth's head.

A Birthday Celebration

My Granddad turned 85 last week.  Here is a picture of us celebrating his birthday. It was such a blessing for Caleb and Elisabeth to get to spend time with their Great Granddaddy and their great aunt.

A Downtown Day

On Saturday, we took Caleb and Elisabeth downtown. We started the day at the Museum of Science and History. Then, we had a picnic lunch on the river. We ended our day at the Treaty Oak Park. The park has a huge oak tree. Caleb and Elisabeth loved climbing and playing on the tree.

Shaving Cream

The other day when we took Caleb and Elisabeth for there 18 month check-up, Dr. Granat told us that we should let the kids play with different textures. One of the things he mentioned was shaving cream. So, during a rainy day last week, we decided to get out Todd's shaving cream to see how they would react. Todd comes out of the bathroom from time to time with shaving cream on his face and it totally freaks the kids out, so we didn't know how they would react to playing with it. At first, Elisabeth wanted nothing to do with it and gave us the "you have got to be kidding me" look. Slowly but surely, she began to imitate daddy putting on his shaving cream. Next thing you know, we had a full blown mess on our hands! Caleb never came around and continues to be totally disgusted with odd textures, but that's another story.

19 Months

Caleb and Elisabeth are nineteen months old today. We have had a fun month. The weather has been wonderful so we have enjoyed a lot of outdoor activities such as the zoo, parks, the pumpkin patch and playing in the backyard. Caleb and Elisabeth have had two colds each, so we have spent much of the month with the sniffles.
We love to watch Caleb and Elisabeth together. They really have so much fun playing with one another. Of course, they argue over toys and books several times a day, but for the most part they love being together. Often when they are suppose to be sleeping we can hear them laughing and squealing. We pray that they will always be close.
This is a great age. They are so curious and excited about everything. They are learning so much. Just this week they both said their first sentence. Caleb said, "She'll be right back", and Elisabeth said,"I love Daddy".

Under Daddy's Watch

Why waste paper when you can color right on the table?
The other day Todd, Caleb, and Elisabeth were playing on the porch. Caleb and Elisabeth wanted to color (which they beg to do several times a day). Todd decided that instead of getting out paper that he would just let them color on the table. Naturally, the teacher in my objected to this activity. Oh, well! Thank goodness for Clorox wipes. They clean up everything.
As you can see from the pictures, even Todd thought it was fun to draw on the table.

A Perfect End to the Weekend

We ended our weekend with a late afternoon trip to the beach.  The weather was so beautiful and cool.   I love Florida weather.  Where else can you go to the pumpkin patch and the beach in the same weekend?

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend, we took Caleb and Elisabeth to the pumpkin patch. They had so much fun running, playing, and picking out a pumpkin. When we got home, we let them decorate the pumpkin by painting it. It did not take long for them to start painting each other.

Here is a movie of our pumpkin patch adventure.

A Bow Breakthrough

I have mentioned before that Elisabeth would not wear a bow in her hair. It wasn't that she just refused, she really seemed scared of bows. The other day, when she was not paying attention, Todd slipped a bow in her hair. We made a huge deal about it and showed her the bow in the mirror. She loved it. Since then she has loved wearing a bow. I think she looks adorable.

In this picture, she is fussing because she wants her puppy to have a bow too.
