Don't Mess with Elisabeth!

I absolutely love this series of shots. We were getting ready for our first day at the beach and the kids were excited about their new bathing suits. So naturally, they wanted their picture taken in them. I think this shows the complete range of emotions in our little girl in just a matter of seconds!

At first they were playing together...

Elisabeth was loving on her big brother. He decided not to return the love and affection.

He then said something to her...

and decide to impose his will on her...

"Oh no you didn't just touch me!"

"I am woman hear me roar! RRRRR!"

"Let's go to the beach!"

4th Birthday Party

We had a great "Fancy Nancy & Star Wars" party for the kids. We were blessed to have 20 kids at the house! With all the parents and family we were busting at the seams. We are so thankful to have so many friends and family.

We rented a giant "princess" bounce house for Elisabeth. They jumped and jumped until their legs nearly fell off.

Here's the conversation we had with Caleb about the type of bounce house he wanted:
Mamma: "Caleb, what type of bounce house do you want?"
Caleb: "A small one!"
Daddy: "No, we're going to rent you one of those gigantic ones!"
Caleb: "I don't want one, I want a small one!"
Daddy: "Why?"
Caleb: "So I can keep it!"
Mamma & Daddy: "Ohhhh!"

Caleb was thinking three steps ahead of us. The ramifications of this for the teenage years is a little scary! Since it wasn't much more we decide to get him a small one. It fits perfectly in our bonus room!

March 10th

We had such a fun day celebrating Caleb and Elisabeth's 4th birthday. Todd took the day off so we could spend it as a family. We let Caleb and Elisabeth choose what they wanted to do all day.

We started the morning with presents. Elisabeth could barely sleep the night before because she was so excited about what kind of wrapping paper her presents were going to be wrapped in.

We had Krispy Kreme for breakfast and then headed to the zoo. The weather was a little gloomy, but we had so much fun seeing the animals, riding the train, seeing the new dinosaur exhibit, feeding the giraffes, and riding the merry-go-round.

Caleb and Elisabeth wanted to go to their favorite restaurant, Red Elephant. We met Grandma and Grandaddy Bristowe, Grandma Rhonda, Pops, and Aunt Laura there for dinner. Then everyone came over to our house for cake and presents.

It was such a special day. God has blessed us so much and we are so thankful.

Happy Birthday, Caleb and Elisabeth!

Dear Caleb and Elisabeth,

Happy 4th birthday. We are having trouble believing that you are four years old. Getting to be your Mama and Daddy has brought us so much joy and we love you more than you will ever know.

One of our favorite things about the two of you this year is how much you adore each other. Of course, you have a normal brother/ sister relationship with some disagreements and arguments but for the most part you two are inseparable. Your favorite thing to play is dress up. You both live in costumes. Elisabeth you love your princess costumes and Caleb you love your knight, Star Wars, and chef costumes.

Your best friends are Noah and Abigail. I love watching the four of you celebrate and hug every time you see each other. I pray that those friendships will last a lifetime.

You are both obsessed with books. You would be happy to read all day. Daddy likes to get you up early in the morning so he can read a couple of books to you before he leaves for work. You love that special time you have with him.

Most of all we love how much you love Jesus. We start and end each day with a Bible story. The things that you have learned are amazing. You can memorize Scripture so quickly. Both of you pray the sweetest prayers. You are eager to pray for anyone that you know who has a need. You will often stop what you are doing to pray. More than anything in the world, we pray that you will love Jesus with all your heart and that you will let Him be King of your life. He has such amazing plans for your lives and we are so thankful that we get to be apart of it.

We love you so much. Thank you for making our lives so much fun, crazy, and full of joy.

Mama and Daddy

_______________________________________________________________

Dear Caleb,
You are our boy and the joy of our lives. You are smart, diligent, compassionate, hard working, and funny. You have an unbelievable memory. You can remember things that happened in detail. You are very determined. You focus completely on the task at hand. It is not unusual for you to work up a sweat while putting together a puzzle.

You love to ride your bike (fast), fish, read, play dress up, pretend and help Daddy with whatever project he is working on. You are Daddy's little shadow. If he's under the hood of the car, you are there. If he is under the sink, you are there. If he is painting a room, you are there. You would rather him wake you up before the sun rises to give you a hug and a kiss then slip out of the house and let you sleep. You take it very seriously when Daddy tells you to protect the girls when he is gone. I hope you will always have a tight bond

You are a critical thinker. In the past couple of days, you have asked us questions like: "How does your heart pump blood? Where does snot come from? Where is Jupiter? Why? Why? Why?" You ask hundreds of questions everyday. If we do not know the answer you always ask us, "Well, what do you guess?" You truly have a beautiful mind!

You have such a sweet heart. You LOVE Elisabeth. You are one minute older than her, but you call her your baby sister. She is blessed to have you to protect her.

Caleb, we love you so much and can't wait to see what God has planned for your life.

Mama and Daddy

____________________________________________________________________

Dear Elisabeth,
You are our precious baby girl and princess. You are sweet, silly, smart, and fun. You love all things girly. You love to to dress up, wear make up (especially lip gloss), paint your toenails, and pretend to be a princess. You always say that Daddy is your prince. You love asking him to dance with you and he loves it. You love Steven Curtis Chapman's "Cinderella" song, but insist daddy change the words to "Snow White" since you don't much care for Cinderella and her blue dress. You also love how the song makes Daddy a little bit misty eyed! He has such a soft spot in his heart for you.

We have a joke in our family that you don't know how to walk. That is because you always run, skip, hop, and flutter everywhere you go. Your feet barely touch the ground. I love how you walk for a couple of steps and then randomly leap in the air!

You love to enjoy life. You move at your own pace and are never in a hurry. You love animals. When we go for bike rides you have to stop and play with all of our neighbor's dogs.

Over the past year, you have come out of your shell so much. You love your friends, going to Sunday School, and riding your bike through the neighborhood just to see if any of your friends are outside.

We love you are sweet Elisabeth. You are truly a gift from God.
