We continued our ocean unit this week. We did several activities and learned about jellyfish and seahorses. We also took two trips to the beach.

I am working with the kids on responsibility during homeschool. They are learning to put away their supplies, wash out their paint cups and paintbrushes, and clean off their tracing cards.

Catching Up With Homeschool

I am a couple of weeks behind on our homeschool updates. We took the last week of July off for our beach vacation and the first week of August off for Power Up clubs. Now we are back in the homeschool groove.

I also started an ocean unit with the kids. We made ocean books, learned facts about ocean animals, read books about the ocean, and made ocean pictures. This week we learned about ocean waves, hammerhead sharks, octopuses, and stingrays.

Beach Video #2

Here is our other movie from the beach this year. Todd put it to the Toby Mac Song "Get Back Up". The kids were so excited when that song was featured in our Power Up Clubs this year. You should see Caleb dancing to it. It is quite a sight.

Power Up Club 2010

Every summer the middle & high schoolers from our church put on "Power Up Clubs". This is an awesome way our church reaches out to the lost in our community. PUC includes Bible stories, skits, games and lots of water.

When we bought our house, we knew we had to have a PUC in our front yard. We were a little apprehensive about what the neighbors would think and if any kids would show up. Well, with much prayer and hard work our club went off without a hitch. We received nothing but praise from our neighbors. We used to be the "sod" people... Now we're the people with "all the kids in the yard".

It was such a great experience. We loved our PUC team, met many new people and had one of the little guys from our neighborhood pray to receive Christ. We are exhilarated... exhausted... and can't wait until next year!

My Beach Family

This was an interesting year for photos at the beach. The kids absolutely refused to look at the camera at the same time. We did manage to trick them a few times. Overall, we got some photos I wouldn't trade for the world!
