Happy Halloween!

We love our neighborhood! Every year for halloween all the families meet at the front of the neighborhood and have a big "parade" down the street. It is so sweet seeing all the kids dressed in their costumes. All the neighbors sit on the driveways to handout candy to the kids. This year we decided to have it on Saturday night and at the end we all met at the pool for a BBQ.

Caleb and Elisabeth were so sweet. Elisabeth was the perfect Snow White and Caleb was the rough and tough transformer, Optimus Prime.

Here are our skills and activities from the past two weeks of homeschool:

Review letters Ss and Tt
Letters Uu,Vv, Ww, and Xx
Numbers 14 and 15
Dot to dot numbers
Seashore picture craft
Number matching 1-10
Letter tracing
Matching weather pictures
Umbrella craft
Tiger hats
Dot painting letters
Patterns
Play dough
Legos
Sidewalk chalk
Zaccheus story, song, and craft
Number recognition games 1-15

I started giving Caleb and Elisabeth a "warm activity" to do every morning at the beginning of our homeschool time. I give them something that they can do independently and can complete in about five or ten minutes. Some of our warm activities include: math manipulatives (money, geometric shapes, pattern blocks, and color bears), prewriting on marker boards, scissor practice, word matching, and puzzles.

Fishing with Dad

I love this video of Caleb. He took his own pole, but Todd only rigged it with a bobber. After Todd pulled out a few fish and Caleb didn't get a bite, he figured his was broken. So, Caleb commandeered Todd's pole in time to catch this fish.

One of my favorite parts of this video is when Caleb starts yelling at the fish "In a little bit! In a little bit!" I guess Caleb thought the fish was being a little impatient.

Did you notice how Elisabeth was no where to be found? That's because she refused to go. She wanted to stay home and paint her toenails! What a girly girl!!!

Park Time

It's been a couple of weeks since we last went swimming. The pool has been such a nice outlet for the kids, where they can swim and play to their hearts' content. To be honest, I've been dreading afternoons without the pool. Well, now we've found our new release... the park! We've got a nice one close to our house, that doesn't have any playground equipment, but has endless paths for the kids to run and play. I am so thankful for our park!

We went to the zoo this weekend. Caleb and Elisabeth are true animal lovers and throughly enjoy everything at the zoo. Their favorite part of the zoo visit was the stingray exhibit. They were in heaven petting the stingrays and getting soaking wet. We are looking forward to many more trips to the zoo this fall.

Going to the Park

We absolutely love going to the park. This past week was especially beautiful. The kids had an absolute blast and it is nice to be able to sit back and watch them run!
